About the role

The Ministerial and Government Relations Specialist plays a key role in supporting effective and timely engagement between Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Government stakeholders.
Based in the Office of the CEO, this position works closely with the team Leader to coordinate and deliver a broad range of reporting, communication and compliance activities. Acting as a central liaison point, the role ensures seamless communication between TEQ and Government.

You will provide advice on government processes and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to prepare accurate, high-quality and timely written responses on behalf of TEQ. This includes managing matters across the tourism and events portfolio, ensuring all deliverables meet required standards and deadlines.

Job Description

Key duties

  • Prepare high-quality materials, including correspondence, submissions and briefing notes on a range of tourism and events matters. 
  • Coordinate, research and manage multiple information requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses to Government stakeholders. 
  • Provide clear, professional written and verbal advice to Government and TEQ stakeholders. 
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across TEQ and with Government agencies to support stakeholder engagement and other outcomes. 
  • Ensure all documentation meets government standards, style guides and compliance requirements. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support efficient document and information management practices.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and high quality documentation. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and liaise effectively across all levels, including senior executives and government. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple requests and competing priorities, delivering outcomes within tight timeframes. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organisational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to interpret and apply standards, policies and style guides to ensure consistent, high quality outputs. 
  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills, with the ability to provide practical advice and support process improvements.
