About the role
Join TEQ’s Events Group and play a key role in delivering high‑value business events that drive tourism, economic growth and pride across Queensland. This full‑time, 12‑month temporary role (maternity leave cover) leads the attraction and delivery of strategic business events within a high‑profile portfolio.
Job Description
Key duties:
Lead the attraction, assessment and delivery of high‑value business events for Queensland.
Implement the Queensland Business Events Industry Strategy (QBEIS) with internal and external partners.
Prepare high‑quality, data‑driven business cases, briefs and submissions to support event investment decisions.
Negotiate, manage and oversee event investment and convention bureau contracts to maximise value and manage risk.
Build and maintain strong relationships with event proponents, government, industry partners and stakeholders.
Measure, evaluate and report on event outcomes to demonstrate economic, tourism and strategic value.

Desired Skills and Experience
For this role, we will consider your:
Extensive knowledge of the national and international business events landscape, including international association and incentive event bidding pipelines.
Strong understanding of convention bureaux operations, government’s role in events, and the broader policy, legal and compliance environment.
Proven ability to negotiate, manage and administer complex event, commercial and partnership contracts with sound risk management.
Demonstrated experience in event budgeting, operational planning and delivery, with strong organisational and time management skills.
Highly developed project management capability, able to manage multiple priorities while building effective stakeholder relationships.
Exceptional written and presentation skills, with the ability to manage confidential and politically sensitive matters and work flexibly, including travel and out of hours commitments.
