Job Description

At TEQ, we create unforgettable experiences.  Our Culture and Entertainment Events Team identifies, attracts, and promotes events that: Boost Queensland’s economy, draw visitors to our state, elevate Queensland’s profile and inspire community pride.  We empower the tourism and events network to deliver a world-class calendar that exceeds visitor expectations across Queensland’s destinations.

To support this work, we’re seeking a Culture and Entertainment Events Specialist until October 2026 to cover maternity leave. This role supports the administration of TEQ’s major and destination event contracts to deliver direct and incremental value to Queensland’s events calendar in line with TEQ’s objectives.

 

Key duties:

  • Support the implementation of TEQ’s Events Strategy and provide high-level assistance to the Culture and Entertainment Events Leader.
  • Manage event contracts and internal processes, including deliverables, meetings, documentation, and financial tracking.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships with councils, RTOs, event owners, and tourism operators to maximise event outcomes.
  • Represent TEQ at events and functions, coordinate ministerial and board engagement, and activate contractual benefits.
  • Oversee event evaluation and reporting, including collaboration with research agencies and audit/compliance teams.
  • Maintain systems and tools such as SmartyGrants and CRM, and contribute to governance, communications, and optimisation initiatives.

Desired Skills and Experience

For this role, we will consider your: 

  • Proven experience in the events industry, with a strong understanding of event attraction and development.
  • Knowledge of the economic and community value of events, and the role of government in supporting Queensland’s event landscape.
  • Strong project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and handle sensitive information.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support event delivery.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to prepare and present information clearly across various formats and audiences.
